Summary
In 1985, a 175-pound black bear died of a cocaine overdose after ingesting forty containers of the drug that had been dropped from a plane. Apparently wishing to preserve the bear for science, the medical examiner in charge of the case had the bear taxidermied and then gifted it to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area in Georgia…until it suddenly went missing five years later. As the bear takes a journey across the country, and fact mixes with fiction, we meet a cast of colorful characters, including a national park superintendent, a college basketball player, a pawn shop owner, a Nashville A&R rep, a Vegas stage magician, a traditional Chinese herbalist, a tourist trap hustler, and a newlywed couple, all of their stories inextricably linked by a taxidermy bear that may or may not have done cocaine.
Very loosely based on a true story. -
