Centuries ago there was a kingdom that was the birthplace of Dragons. When the Prince came of age to take a mate he refused all of them, for he had already fallen in love with the kingdom’s Arch Alchemist. This refusal angered the Prince of the Fox Clan greatly and he cursed the Dragon Prince and his lover to forever be together but always apart until eternity. The Kingdom was then plunged into a brutal internal war that decimated the land. It is said that the Dragon Emperor’s disappearance was what finally ended the war, allowing the Fox Clan to take over their new territory. Without their Emperor or their country many of the remaining dragons departed to distant shores across the vast ocean. Now five hundred centuries later the land has changed and healed from the war ravaged desolate wasteland it was. Though prosperous and seemingly peaceful, the Fox Emperor rules with sinister threats and taxes the people heavily. What truly happened to the Kingdom of Dragons has fallen from all knowledge and is now only vague myths and disregarded campfire stories. Those that do remember are forever trapped within the confines of magic, waiting for destiny to finally get around to finishing their story.

There’s an unreadable expression on Aether’s face as he stares back up at Albedo, summoning a silent pause. After a few beats, Aether shifts to sit back up, his back facing Albedo. For a brief moment, the alchemist begins to panic -- was he perhaps a little too truthful? Was Aether disgusted by such a comment and was going to leave -- but his worries are dispelled the moment Aether shifts a second time, turning to face Albedo.
