Phil sits at Techno’s bedside and worries.
Wilbur woke him up barely past midnight, sobbing and shaking, saying Techno had a seizure and he’s not waking up, begging for help.
Techno still hasn’t come around. Ponk conducted a neuro exam in his room, and he didn’t wake up, didn’t respond. Ponk moved him to the medical bay and did another exam, and Techno still remained unresponsive.
Techno was doing well. He wasn’t okay, but he was safe, he was responding to Kristin, and now…ai-less whumptober day 28

“This is Cyrena,” their father says. His expression is oddly pinched. “She’s come to… to perform a ritual to help you both prepare for Wilbur’s departure.”
Techno swallows, nervousness prickling through their bond. His, mostly. Wilbur squeezes his hand reassuringly.
They kneel side-by-side, staring at the woman, confusion and anxiety flowing between them. She begins to speak, in a language Techno doesn’t understand. And then-
Pain rips through Techno’s chest. He chokes, gripping at it, it hurts so much-
Beside him, Wilbur flinches, opening his mouth in confusion.

Phil gently moves his thumbs in circles over Techno’s wrists, smiling when his kid’s gaze focuses again. “Hey,” he murmurs. “Still doing okay, Techno?”
Techno blinks at him, confusion gradually clearing. “Phil.”
“Right here. You’re just fine,” Phil says soothingly.
Techno doesn’t fight today. This is good. He’s never fully the old Techno, not since the kidnapping and the seizure, but he has good days and bad days. On good days- like today- he’s somewhat cognizant of his surroundings, he follows instructions without fussing. On worse days-

“In a sense, yes. Tommy has repeated the want of being a kid again. I believe allowing him to explore that kind of mindset will allow him to feel as if he's safe again and will allow him to heal over time. Provided he is given the care he needs. While I can provide a safe place to talk and strategies to help him, he needs you as well. Tommy needs someone to take care of him.”
“I think I can do that,” Wilbur said, nodding. “I’ve already been trying to make him feel safe with me. I’d do anything to help him feel safe again.”

Techno barely heard the door to his room open. (Screw you, past him, for forgetting to lock it.) He doesn't dare to look up from the blanket, presently the only thing helping him save face.
“Are you dying in there?” a raspy voice—one evidently belonging to someone who just woke up—asks.
It's more of a fact than a question to Techno. Perhaps he really is dying, but that wouldn't be very on brand of him.
Somewhere in the recesses of his mind, Techno registers his name being called by his brother, Wilbur.

It's a sick night for Techno. Wilbur finds him just in time.

"Eclipse really just couldn't be bothered, could he?" Firefly continues, laughing like he's just said the funniest thing in the world. Schlatt frowns, irritated, and clicks his tongue in displeasure. "I don't know, man. Have you ever considered that we, unlike you, might have actual lives?" He returns, raising an eyebrow pointedly. Firefly flinches back like he's been burned. Hilarious, really.
Schlatt chucks the vial at Firefly, and it explodes right before it can hit the hero's face.
Immediately, Firefly starts screaming, clawing at his eyes as the lavender cloud dissapears. Schlatt takes the opportunity to pull out his phone, opening Wilbur's contact.

"You can't make me do jack shit." Tommy protests, tracing shapes into the ceiling with his eyes.

By the time Wilbur actually comes to look for him the water has become uncomfortably cold, but Tommy is too tired to do anything about it.
"Tommy." Wilbur sighs, staring down at him with his hands on his hips. Tommy glares at him half heartedly before closing his eyes again, resting his cheek against the inside of the sink.
Wilbur picks him up by the scruff of the neck, hefting him out of the water. Tommy lets out a disgruntled meow when he's picked up, but it comes out as more of a squeak.
The noise of protest is disregarded, Wilbur wrapping him up in a small towel and laying him on his back, cradled in the crook of the man's arm.

"That was a valid que-" Niki hits his shoulder again, earning another high five from Techno. Schlatt shrieks, falling over and scrambling away from her. Tommy giggles quietly, masked by the shrieking. Wilbur hears, though, and squeezes him.
"Why do you hate me?" Schlatt sulks, rubbing his arm.
"Because you suck." Techno deadpans, and they all go silent, stunned. Tommy screws the lid onto the thermos, shoulders shaking with barely restrained laughter.
He breaks first, laughing so hard that he falls over, starting a sort of domino effect. Niki breaks into laughter soon after, Wilbur following, and he watches Techno bite his lip, trying to keep his own laughter under control. Schlatt is still too stunned to laugh, gaping at the pinkette.
Or; Tommy sneaks out and accidently joins a picnic with some friends.

He looks up, and feels fear squeeze at his heart when he sees just how dark the clouds, that are fast approaching, are. He picks up his phone, unlocking it and scrolling frantically to his weather app.

Wilbur drops his phone, uncaring as it clatters to the ground harshly, and sprints out of his room. He slams into the opposite wall, pushing off it and racing down the stairs. There's one thought on his mind, and only one.
