      Jaskier is too terrified to tell the Witchers why he's there or who sent them. Eskel axiis him to tell the truth: his father and king Vizimir sent him as tribute, to be raped to death.
      Jaskier is given a room and left alone to cool down, but he's still terrified and expects to be assaulted, and tries to climb out of the window and kill himself before that can happen. Geralt stops him and tells him he won't be harmed, neither by him nor by anyone else.
      When Jaskier can't honestly say that he won't make another suicide attempt by jumping, he's given rooms below ground.
      They tell him he's safe here, and that he can leave if he wants, or stay and be their court bard.
      Jaskier knows he can't go back home and doesn't think he could make it on his own, so he stays.
