    He can hear Jisung stand up too, but he doesn’t turn around. Instead he lets his eyes close, only to find Jisung painted on the backs of his lids. It makes his hands shake.

    “I’ve never met someone like you.”

    Jisung shuffles forward before responding. “Hm? How am I different?”

    Minho turns around. It’s painful to look at Jisung, a beacon right down the middle of the dark playground, but he does anyway. He thinks about the question for just a moment, because the words are already escaping him.

    “You’re someone I can’t see through.”

    Jisung laughs at that, eyes squishing up as every dimension of space around him glitters. “Well, I’m pleased to know that I’ve managed to hold your interest.”

    Oh no, you’ve known. You’ve known since that day in the library that I’m incapable of looking away.

    Minho turns back around and tilts his head up. He focuses on the sky this time, vast and dark. Looking at the endless sky is easier than looking at Jisung, the labyrinth of a man.

    A maze Minho has no chance of escaping.

It entices her with the promise of pleasure, the rush from the absolute feeling of control and power over another – a second of ecstasy, of peace, as the life would leave Shadowheart’s eyes.

    The terrible urge is paired with an unpleasant, sticky feeling of shame, and Lake hurries to tear her eyes away from Shadowheart.

    Luo Binghe despairs of ever finding a day where his Shizun will not throw himself in front of danger for other people’s protection. It is easily his worst trait–the way that he treats himself and his body as a shield for others, ranking himself cavalierly as far more disposable than Binghe wishes he would. When he was younger, it caused Binghe to spend many nights filled alternatingly with worry and despair for his Shizun, so willing to throw himself into harm’s way. Time has softened the despair into more of a gentle exasperation, and Binghe has simply resolved to do his best to prevent Shen Qingqiu from ever needing to throw himself in the way of danger for him.
