Story 22: Maze: It is fall, which depresses Mark…mainly because his sister’s birthday is in October. His co-apprentice, Amanda, loves the fall season, and makes plans to go with a date to corn maze.
Amanda’s date turns out to be a cheater, and she cancels her date…Mark, feeling uncharacteristically sad for her, decides to take her to the corn maze where fall fun and “scares” happen.
Story 23: Good Girl: Sister Story to Good Boy (Story 21); Amanda is placed in the bathroom basement by Mark after the events of Saw III/IV. Mark shows gentle behavior towards a hostile Amanda for one purpose; to be his lover…forever.
Eventually, his behavior wears Amanda down, and she becomes Mark Hoffman’s “good girl”.

“You’re a goddamn mess, Mark,” Strahm growls, and Hoffman can only hum again. His head drifts to his side, relaxed in the recliner, pretty and complicit to Strahm’s mending. “What am I supposed to do with you?”
“...Dunno,” Mark replies, lamely. Strahm’s eyelashes are wet, as they flutter shut and re-open. They’re wideshot and filled with red lines. A blink – and Hoffman mistakes it for his own. He breaks out into a half-assed grin, weak and oddly misplaced upon his face. “Eat me?”
Strahm comes home to find Hoffman open and waiting for him.
