There was a glossy red thread tied around his right pinky finger. His eyes followed it—even while his brain screamed Kill Bill sirens in his now throbbing head—they trailed up and up and up. Only to find the other end of the string tied to Shane’s finger.
The string that turned greyer and dead the closer it got to Shane’s hand.
Shane unintentionally rejects his soulmate, unknowingly leaving Ryan to die a slow and painful death. Ryan could tell him, but Shane's never wanted a soul bond anyway, so what does it matter?
