Summary
After spending some time with the Waynes while his dad was in a coma, Tim Drake is going into the new semester at Gotham Academy and trying to remember what normal feels like. Between Tim’s battle with school, a new collection of brothers, helping out his dad, and dodging awkward family dinners, music is the last thing on his mind, until his best friend Cassie ropes him into filling in for her band.
Now, Tim’s juggling guitar practice, gossip-filled hallways, and a singer who seems allergic to getting along with him. But somewhere between late-night rehearsals, bad cafeteria coffee, and a few too-long glances, Tim starts to realize that maybe this year won’t be about getting back to normal; it might be about finding something better.

It doesn't look like NYC even from just an alleyway. He can practically smell the gloom floating in the air. Well– he can't smell gloom, but he can smell blood and piss, which isn't the usual smell from his city. Well, they are, but it's never this strong, and always accompanied by other comforting smells. But the worst is the sounds. Peter can hear the sound of gunshots and screaming.

Tim has reservations. Not because there's anything wrong with Duke or Duke's integration into the family as a concept. But because Tim and new additions to the family have a tendency to go badly for him at first.
Is he going to be hated on sight by yet another brother?

Tim stared up at his older self as if he had grown two heads. “What? No, he wouldn’t! He’s Batman and even if he’s a little crazy now, Batman doesn’t hurt kids!”
His older self looked at him sadly. “That’s a lie Tim,” he said quietly. “I’ve got the scars to prove it. He will hurt you and he will allow others to hurt you as well.”
OR, the night before little Tim Drake goes to Batman to convince him to take him on as Robin, he gets a visit from an older version of himself who tries to convince him to go a different route in life, one that just might make him happier than being Robin ever would.

Tim Drake is not "Timothy Drake"They are both personas, a front to prevent people from looking at whats really under the surface. But sooner or later Tim should have known Gotham being a city of secrets, nothing stays buried forever. Especially not when the bats get involved with their trashy next door neighbor whose behavior seems more and more contradictory.
Tim had saved them all more times than he could count, maybe this time they could return the favor.

That's how he wished it had happened. Oh, to only be a single father on the run from the law; what a wonderful world it would be if that were the only thing that had gone wrong in his life.

Summary
Tim's shoulders sank a little. Duke could tell he really wasn't sure what to do at all. After a moment, Tim simply wraps an arm around Duke's shoulders, pulling him in for a hug. The fact that he was trying to soothe him at all only made Duke cry more. In response, Tim awkwardly patted Duke's back- making him laugh a little through the tears.
What a blessing to have a family such as this, even when his first family had fallen apart.

“What am I missing?” Jason asked, his brow furrowing and letting annoyance creep into his tone. He didn’t care for his father’s mind games.
“Jay, lad,” Bruce began, quietly, and Jason wanted nothing more than for his father to just spit it out. His hand twitched, as though he wanted to take Jason’s, or maybe put a reassuring hand on his shoulder like he used to. He didn’t.
Jason wasn’t sure whether he was glad or disappointed.
“What?” He exclaimed with a huff, falling back onto his pillow to glare at the ceiling. “It can’t be that bad.”
The silence that followed only served to unsettle him more.
“When you were injured, it was as a civilian.”
Or alternatively; Jason wakes up in the hospital after an accident, the doctors have identified him as the long lost son of Bruce Wayne, and he's forced to not only figure out how to navigate his (very public) personal life, but also the broken relationship with his father.

Tim prided himself on his ability to untangle problems.
Red Hood declared war on Batman again because of some bullshit that Bruce is doing in Crime Alley? Okay, no problem—Tim’s on Jason’s side for this one, and it’s easy enough to throw some financial and logistical support Hood’s way.
Robin’s benched, and Damian’s embarking on teenage rebellion? Sure, that one’s a little harder for Tim to fix, but still, he’s got at least five contingency plans for this exact scenario.
Jason’s recent crusade brought up memories that Tim hadn’t thought about for years, and now Tim’s stuck ruminating on the exact parameters of his undercover training and the precise definition of what counts as trauma?
…Yeah, so maybe Tim doesn’t have a solution to everything, and maybe this particular problem just won’t leave Tim alone. But the people he loves seem to refuse to abandon him, no matter how hard he tries. So maybe, just maybe, he’s going to have to figure out how to live through it, anyway.
