Summary
Genetics with hybrids are always a bit wacky. The fact that Techno doesn't look like his family isn't unheard of. But that doesn't mean that the sucking void in his chest every time he sees the lack of wings on his back is any easier.
That's fine, because there's another strange aspect of hybrid traits. If someone with recessive hybrid genes experiences enough stress or their life is threatened, sometimes they present the way that they were meant to.
Maybe then, Techno will finally fit right in his body. And his family.

We all know what the Jubilee line is famous for. That dirty London Underground were more people enter than they leave. There were rumors about why they never left. Some say it's because of the old fae ring that the station was built on, others say it's because the line brings out the worst thoughts. No matter what was true the line was the only safe place the blonde boy could go. Unwanted by everyone else, maybe the line would take pity on him and let him live.
It would.
He just couldn't live there.

In the long list of rules that Dream gave him, there were four that stuck out as the most important. Four rules that he could never break.
Stick close to the island when swimming. Always be back before seven. Never complain or hesitate to give Dream his pelt. And never, ever interact with humans.
Tommy didn’t break any of those rules often, and if he did it was a one time thing, a mistake. But this wasn’t a mistake. This was a very deliberate, very stupid move on his part and Dream would kill him if he knew what Tommy was doing. Fifteen years Tommy had lived here, and never once had he intentionally broken one of Dream’s rules. Until now.

great great fic i love ranboo hes a mess
the psychological elements are v powerful, dream's manipulation? wilbur and tommy's feelings both being constantly invalidated? it actually makes me sick thinking about how powerless tom must have felt when dream was controlling him in front of wilbur. the scene where he was like"you wouldn't believe me either way" was very powerful to me and incited a lot of empathy for that character. wilbur constantly being gaslit and called paranoid really grinded my gears. i am in the i hate phil club because how can you be such an npc that his only dialogue line was "i cant foster, no space" instead of "im so sorry for invalidating your gut feelings wilbur, ill do anything to make it up to you. lets do everyhing we can to save this child whom is in danger." although it is a good contrast to the woke (ironic) foster phils in some fics who are tooo reasonable and accomodating as it they are speaking from the sentence examples in my psy101 textbook.
holyyy you can tell how good this book is from the sheer amount of words i have to ssy about it

Then Tommy has to tackle the problem of coming out. With his best friend behind him and their family ahead of them they take the leap. And what they find is love, more love than they thought possible.
