Why the hell am I thinking about her again?
His jaw tightened. He didn’t even want to say her name — not out loud, not in his head. But the image flickered anyway: Grey, standing awkwardly in the hallway just yesterday, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her cloak as she offered him a quiet “Good morning, Gauche.” It wasn’t anything special. She always looked nervous, always blushed and looked away when people noticed her. And yet, somehow… it had stuck with him.
This is ridiculous. Focus.Update: I am still going through every single chapter and giving everything a slight rewrite. Just polishing some errors, adding in a few more layers of emotions, just making everything better overall!
Right now I am reworking chapters 40-50. So if you have already read this fic, take a moment to go back and see how I have improved it so far!

Summary

At the palace, Viktor meets Jayce, the only surviving member of House Talis, who serves the monarchy as the royal blacksmith. Viktor has seen and healed wounds inflicted by the very weapons Jayce designs and forges, so their interactions start rather tense.
The longer Viktor studies Caitlyn's mysterious affliction, the more unsettling details he uncovers. However, he also wonders if he could change what he finds into something healing instead of harmful. Meanwhile, Jayce always seems to be nearby, and their relationship ends up evolving into something neither expected, least of all Viktor. Despite how strong their bond becomes, it will be pushed to the breaking point, but whether or not it snaps remains to be seen.
