Jayce never created Hextech, but remained as an engineer within the academy. However, despite their degrees of separation, their paths are nonetheless entangled in ways beyond comprehension.

Summary
Pirates are gangs of bastard heroes and the navy is nothing but a fleet of cowards – that’s what the average citizen will tell you these days. After all, it was pirates who stepped up to defend the people when the Constellations appeared.
Viktor has been living aboard Blisters as a Sea Witch, wielding the one thing that can actually hurt these monsters: magic. The Zaunite crews have become a family to him and his life is almost like a fantasy. But when someone has everything, that means they have everything to lose. A Sea Witch can not perform magic alone, they need a weapon; a witch’s Athame. Until Viktor finds a suitable partner, he won’t be able to protect his family. That’s when a half-dead Piltie washes up on Zaun’s shores with fancy clothes, navigational equipment, and a glowing blue stone that smells of magic.
Viktor is stuck with a choice, he can let fear paralyze him or he can find strength in those around him. Luckily, the people by his side make the harder choice well worthwhile.

Viktor considers himself lucky.
Life liked to kick him to the ground, digging its feet into his ribs until he was gasping for breath, but he always got himself up again. He’s proud to say he was raised by two of the strongest men he’s met, that he’s the eldest of five siblings, and that despite everything that’s happened to him in his life, he’s still alive. He worked hard for everything he had, towards everything he accomplished, climbing out of the pits of Zaun into the bright skies of Piltover.
What Viktor doesn’t understand is that the boy who didn’t acknowledge his existence during their shared high school days at Piltover Prep is now fascinated with him, and now wants to be friends.
He should be careful of what he wishes for.

The Council couldn't be convinced, and Jayce Talis’ trial ends with him being exiled from Piltover. While the Undercity would be included as a part of Piltover, Jayce finds that they do not care as long as he never steps foot on the north side of the river again, and ends up impulsively taking in three children who have also lost everything.

Summary
A single action is not often seen as life altering, or fate defying. Most would see a simple stroll down a damp street as just a normal occurance. Most would be right. How could one choice stroll, one chance encounter, and one medical mystery tip the course of the universe so out of wack?

After the short, but entirely vicious, war between Piltover and Zaun ends, the winning side sees the losers as a problem, a resource, and most of all, as a commodity.
They extend their beneficence to the lawless denizens, and bring them under their wing. The poor wretches should be grateful for their magnanimity.
Jayce has been looking for his lab partner for some time, concerned that he might have fallen into the wrong hands. Obviously, the only right hands are his, and he will brook no other laying a finger on him.
Viktor is just trying to navigate this new and horrifying situation, but surely Jayce will come to help him. Right?
