“I-” Eddie croaks. Mentally recalibrates. Right. While Halloween may still be two weeks away, haunted houses have been sprouting like mushrooms all over the suburbs. He passed an especially elaborate one not two minutes ago, so this guy is probably an actor on his way home. “You didn't scare me.”
The boy arches a disbelieving eyebrow. Eddie clears his throat and pretends to focus on the road while he wills his blush to go away.
