Summary
Everywhere Buck looked, he saw his own face.
His face and often, Devon’s face. Usually right next to each other.
The news kept talking about the tragic incident, talking about Devon and the loss of his life, talking about Buck, the “hero” firefighter who caused the death of a young man because he wasn’t good enough to save him.
Buck hated it. Hated that everyone in the greater Los Angeles area had their eyes on him right now.

Summary
Buck has been here before—maybe not here, not this exact burial ground—but in this place of stillness, of isolation, of waiting for the end. Buck has danced with death enough times to know its steps. He has felt the world narrow to a pinpoint of breath, felt the cold rush of fear in his veins, felt the weight of knowing this could be it.
The lightning strike. The tsunami. The engine bombing. His own reckless, desperate need to do something, even if it meant running headlong into danger. Every time, he had invited disaster with open arms. Every time, people had looked at him and said he was reckless, thoughtless, stupid.
Or, when a call goes wrong and Buck is left to die, he has nothing to do but think as the end draws near. To think about his friends, his family, his life. He has escaped one-too-many close calls. But not this time. He is Icarus, and he has flown too close to the sun.

Summary
''What are the facts here, Buck! Tell me them, because you should know that none of this, absolutely none of the fucked up shit you tell yourself is true, not even the slightest bit,''
''It's facts that you want? Fine, here they are,'' Buck says, and the sufferance in his tone, the pain in his eyes, makes Eddie's throat go tight with emotion. ''We both know I should be in that coffin six-feet under instead of Bobby,''
''You didn't..'' Didn't what? Didn't just say that? No, Eddie couldn't ask that because he knows too well that Buck had said it. ''Repeat that, what did you just say, Buck?''
Waiting for a response, Eddie swallows. He wants to weep, to cry until there's nothing left. His eyes burn, but he has nothing else to give.
He's broken from his spiraling thoughts finding that Buck still hasn't responded.
''No,'' Eddie bleats. ''No, you can't - you cannot say something like that, Buck, don't..''
''It should've been me. It always should've been me instead of Bobby,'' Buck insists, eyes squeezed shut. Willing the fresh gleam of tears to not cascade down the blonde's cheeks. ''And I'd reverse our roles instantly, I'd be the one in that coffin if it wasn't already nailed shut,''

Summary
He remembered staring up at the weird blue clouds, rain dripping past the visor of his helmet and an apartment fire roaring in the background. He remembered watching the microsecond it took for lightning to arch towards him and then he remembers nothing.
Nothing, Nada, Nil. There was the briefest minute of pain, so fast that he could barely even register it and the sensation of being yanked by his harness but then it had all gone white.
None of that explained why he was looking at the stained popcorn ceiling of the room he had had when he was sharing a house with four other dudes. He recognized the stain in the corner of the room, there used to be a leak there that he’d had to seal when he had taken the room.-
One second he was climbing a ladder to put out an apartment fire and the next he was waking up to a ceiling he hadn’t seen in years.
Somewhere out there, God is laughing at him, but he’s going to make the best of this unwanted second chance.

Summary
Buck was riding the high of his first successful solo debut, still nursing the ache of someone who walked away, when he got news that blindsided him—his upcoming solo tour wouldn’t be so solo after all. He’d be sharing the stage with Eddie Diaz, a rising country star with a mysterious past and a sound that was quickly blowing up.
At first, Buck hated the idea. The last thing he wanted was to split the spotlight he’d fought so hard for.
But then he actually got to know Eddie.
The problem? Buck had always blurred the line between friendship and something more—and with Eddie, it was getting harder to tell the difference.

Summary
Father Eddie Diaz never expected to be hated this much by the head priest of his parish. Just because he had been married and had a child before seminary school didn't mean that he was incapable as a priest. Constantly assigned the worst duties, Father Diaz's week usually includes excessive cleaning, routine discussions with cranky parishioners and, because he was clearly experienced in the subject matter, running the weekly Catholics with Sex Addiction meeting.
Evan "Buck" Buckley swore off relationships six months ago, after his last boyfriend broke up with him. Instead of wasting valuable time trying for a new long-term relationship, he returned to his previous Buck 1.0 ways. Despite his frequent dates and hookups, nothing can really satisfy his longing for a real relationship. His best option is to continue serial dating and make the most of the affection he can find. Watching his friends fall in love and have families only cements what Buck knows to be true: there's never going to be a 'happy ever after' for him.

Summary
"Busying himself with the envelope in his hands as an excuse not to help, he studied the letter in his hand. It was a small envelope, small enough to fit a postcard, just like the ones he used to send Maddie.
In black ink, his full name was inscribed in a deliberate stroke; neat and smooth, not unhurried or hesitant. Turning the envelope over, Buck froze as his eyes snagged on the neat handwriting.
Just above the return address was a name that Buck certainly would not have expected to have seen written there in a million years.
James Abernanthy."

What if Eddie Diaz was not the first friend that Buck ever fell in love with? What if he had a history of falling for his 'straight best friend' but repressed the shit out of it?
With his old friend sending him letters, asking for his forgiveness and a second chance, Buck has to reconcile with what this means for him.

Summary
“First, you pack up at the house and don’t tell me, and now you just sneak in here and hope no one sees you?” Eddie asked, hurt. Buck felt himself tense up at the pain he caused his best friend.
“It’s tragic, isn’t it? I can’t even face the people who matter to me,” Buck told him. He turned to look at Eddie.
Eddie was leaning against the door frame, and Ravi started to walk out. “No, you stay,” Eddie said sternly as he looked at Ravi.
Ravi looked between them and didn’t know what to do. He leaned back against the locker. Buck let out a frustrated sigh. “What, now?” Buck asked angrily.
“You think that no one wants to say goodbye? You just left the group chat like it was nothing. You gave your transfer request to the interim Captain after Gerrard left, like it was nothing. No one knows how to talk to you, Buck. You just cut everyone off.” Eddie said. But Buck didn’t cut everyone off, no, he just started talking less, he just hoped no one noticed, but of course Eddie did. Eddie always noticed when Buck self-isolated.
Or, what happens when Buck moves out, leaves the 118, and ghosts Eddie Diaz?

Summary
Even when most people could say that Evan "Buck" Buckley won and could finally get back to work at the 118...it all tasted to bittersweet.
Turns out that maybe he lost exactly the things he was figthing for and aparently it didn´t matter how much he tried to apologize...nobody was willing to listen and day after day with every glare, harsh word trown his way and the absolute silence from the people he once considered his family, to not even mention how things were between Eddie and him-it all became to much for his heart and mind to handle-hence Buck´s breaking point.
Now the universe was actually pissed off things may need to take a turn for better or for worse depending on who you ask. Cause for anyone to learn the right lesson...things need to happend.Or...
Buck gives up and decides that enough is enough and because the universe actually listens (and it feels like Buck deserves a break) it is time for everyone else to learn a lesson or two by any means necessary, even if near death experiences, people actually using their words, amnesia, ghost from the past (metaphorical and literal) are needed.
Cause sometimes love needs help to make everything better. -

"“It's like you forget that anyone around you could ever love you and you throw yourself into things as if you don’t matter! As if you don’t have people who wouldn’t be okay without you in their life. It’s like you forget that you don’t have to sacrifice yourself in order to have people care about you.”"

Summary
Panic floods through him. He’s halfway between forms, muscles rippling and bones aching, claws scratching against the paint job of his hood. He stumbles off the Jeep, staggering backwards as the headlights of Eddie’s car cut through the trees.
Inhale. Exhale. Just shift back. It’s fine. Just hold it back a little longer—
“Buck?” Eddie’s voice calls out through the clearing, sharp with worry.
He doesn’t answer. His chest heaves, body jerking violently as he fights the instinct to shift.
The instincts to find, hunt and kill anything close are strong, but somehow, Buck is stronger.
He forces the teeth back, claws disappearing.
Thankfully, by the time Eddie reaches him, Buck is fully human in appearance again—barefoot, shirtless and sweaty—but human.

Summary
It had been an annoyingly busy day. Busy and frustrating because of the new guy and everyone still razzing him about Abby ghosting him. So it took him a minute to register that the apartment wasn’t empty. There was a half drunk wine glass on the counter and women’s clothes strewn on the bed. Anxiety spiked and Buck grabbed a few of his things and rushed back out as quietly as he could. He’d thought the catfisher shit had been dealt with, but clearly it hadn’t if someone was in Abby’s apartment. Abby didn’t have sisters, and her nieces were too young to drink let alone have bras. He got in the jeep, his hands only slightly shaky as he tried to figure out where to go next. He did the only thing he could think of and called Bobby. Except he didn’t answer, so he tried Hen and then Chimney, all going to voicemail.
Or
Buck is still struggling with anxiety about the catfisher months after the ordeal and doesn't trust who might be in his apartment when he gets home. Instead of walking in and figuring out who it is, he bolts. Athena Grant doesn't let him feel anxious or stressed, taking him home to make him sleep on the couch so he feels safe. She gives some really great advice, actually.

Summary
Eddie resisted the urge to huff like a pouty child. "I'm telling you Hen, something is off with that guy. I don't trust him."
Hen's expression softened from amused to sympathetic and a little sad. "Buck seems happy," she murmured gently, and Eddie's shoulders slumped. "I'm sure that hurts, but we both know he deserves it."
"Of course he does," Eddie retorted, sounding a little too defensive even to his own ears. "I just…" But he didn't have anything to say, because he didn't really have any reason to dislike Callan. It was just a gut feeling, but no one else seemed to be feeling the same way. Eddie knew his family well enough to be able to tell if anyone was feeling off, but they were all welcoming the man in and laughing at his (stupid) jokes while Buck looked at him like he hung the damn moon.
