Then she cast down by the Valar for a singular purpose: To be the defender of those who cannot defend themselves against Sauron. Whereas the Stranger lands with the Harfoots, she lands within Eregion’s rivers.

As an emissary of the gods - one of the istari sent by the Valar themselves - she had a purpose in this world. A task to fulfill. But after years of senseless wandering and cruel losses, even the most loyal servant can lose hope. She had done her part and yet - the great victory that was promised never came to be. And after all that has happened, after all that she has sacrificed for a higher purpose she did not believe in, Amara is fed up with the dealings of the gods. Especially now, being stuck with a fellowship she did not like on a journey she did not even think would succeed.

Three wizards and three witches - the istaris - were sent to fight off evil but after years of suffering and failures Amara is so done with the dealings of the gods.

Reader is an elf child from Celebrian’s escort travelling from Imladris to Lothlorien in TA 2509. For context, Osgiliath was lost in TA 2475. Quote in italics from Unfinished Tales, JRR Tolkien.
"Hi hon, could I please request something with Saruman & Reader where the reader was rescued by him as a child and has been raised by him. Something a little angsty where they’re watching his descent into madness and serving the dark lord. Maybe he tries to hide what’s going on from them but they were raised smart and it’s not exactly difficult to figure out. I think this definitely calls for some(?) angst but as for where the loyalties and morality of the reader lie by the end of it is completely up to you. I just saw you were interested in writing for Saruman and this popped into my head, which is strange because I haven’t written anything like this before!!"
