"I, er... have a fairy godmother." Jaskier says. He knows it sounds childishly ridiculous, but needs must.
"Really?" Ciri ask and there is something excited and hopeful in her tone of voice.
"No." Yennefer grits through her teeth. "That is absolutely ridiculous. Don't -" But she doesn't get to finish that sentence. She's obviously in a lot of pain.
Geralt doesn't comment, as he's dying. Actually dying. Very nearly dead really.
"Well, I do." Jaskier stubbornly says. He's like 99 percent sure he does. "And she'll be able to help." He's about 45 percent sure of that. But it's all he has to offer in their current situation of being completely fucked.

“YOU,” Jaskier screams and stomps down the handful of steps, one hand on his hips peeling back his doublet, the other in front of him, index finger wagging at Lambert. He digs that finger into Lambert’s chest which he barely feels due to the leather cuirass he’s wearing, but emotionally, well. That finger bores straight into Lambert’s heart and the fire in Jaskier’s cerulean eyes singes him and he was so fucking wrong about all of this. He opens his mouth, but before he can speak, Jaskier slaps him across the face. For a bard, he can pack a punch.'

“And you drank it.” Vesemir shook his head. “Tell me your senses serve you better on the path.”
There was just a little too much hesitation before the chorus of “…Well-”
A familiar feeling dawned on Vesemir. “This isn’t the worst of it, is it.”

Lambert and Eskel realize that the bard is -in fact- a human, not a witcher, and they have made a monumental miscalculation.
It’s fine, surely Geralt won’t care that much… Right? Right?
OR
In their excitement of getting to know the bard that so firmly caught their brother’s attention, Eskel and Lambert drag a fragile human to a frigid keep and have the rest of winter to figure out how to survive the cold and each other.

Summary
It had been a hard year for Geralt to say the least.
It was only his third year alone on the path and the roads of the Continent had not treated the young witcher well. Most of the year he spent with little coin to his name, being cheated out of more contracts than he would like to admit, and being left to camp in the rain on more than one occasion.
Of course this shouldn’t be a problem for a witcher. They had been trained for this since childhood, the world was cruel but thus is life. He was built for endurance as were his fellow Wolves. They were the few to survive the trials after all.
This however did not take into account that witchers, despite common misconceptions, could feel emotion. And feel it Geralt did.

Ciri isn't sure about this bard. The Continent is in shambles, her entire world has been turned upside down, and she's only just found some semblance of peace with the father Destiny has granted her. She doesn't want anyone else coming in to mess that up, to hurt Geralt anymore than he already is.
Yennefer has always wanted a child, and now it seems she might get one. She never liked that Bard, but she can't help but feel guilty for her own part in this. She has no idea how she never realised the man isn't human...
Jaskier is furious. He put up with the Witcher's shit for decades, he LOVED that man. And the fool didn't even have the DECENCY to tell him when they broke up. He's Done. He's had enough. And he has a life outside Geralt that is calling his name.
Lots of angst, and lots of ranting bard. Geralt is pretty miserable, but with trouble brewing will he ever find Jaskier again? He is NOT going to make it easy...Series

Summary
Despite Jaskier's hard work, there are still plenty of people who hate witchers. They think they're monstrous, inhuman, only held back from violence by a thin veneer of control. One mage has a plan to spread his views by capturing a witcher and bewitching them to remove their control. When the Butcher of Blaviken walks into his hideout, he's convinced he's found the perfect candidate - and a convenient way to get rid of the pesky bard that's been singing his praises.
Jaskier is forced to agree witchers are not human, but that doesn't mean they're dangerous. In fact, he's astounded by how many of Geralt's uncontrolled impulses involve touching.

Do you build snowmen? Or, in your case, snow witchers? Do you even have a witcher’s version of a snowball fight?”
“We maintain the keep, fix what needs fixing,” Geralt answers as he pulls the hide of the first rabbit off its rear. “We eat, get drunk, and play Gwent. We sleep a lot, too. Don’t get much of that on The Path.”
Jaskier’s heart aches at that casual admission. He’s more than aware that Geralt is used to the little comforts walking The Path entails, which is why Jaskier goes and above and beyond to help and provide as much as he can for his witcher.

And then nearly drops the blade entirely at the sight of a painfully-familiar bard at his side, dangling from his arm with shining handcuffs joining their wrists.
