    "HERMIT HARBOUR'S MERMIN: A RESEARCHER'S STUDY INTO THE CURIOUS CASE OF MOON GLOWING SEA CREATURES.

    Mermin, first of all, is extremely old, now obsolete terminology for creatures currently called merfolk (inclusive of mermaids and mermen).
    It is specifically used for the half fish, half human looking creature that uses their singing as bait.

    On this coast, the term has survived the years.

    It is, in fact, still used by the paranoid people of Hermit Harbour to refer to this specific myth of theirs.
    Although they never as much utter a word about the beings, it is the most notable myth in town.
    One of the many, sitting comfortably next to the ghostly spectres of The Choir, their walking trees and talking birds.

    Grian felt a hand graze near his hair. He quickly turned and glared at the man.
    “Keep your hands off me or I’ll shackle you again, Hermes.” He threatens, reaching for his taser instinctively.
    The prisoner says something, to which Grian simply rolls his eyes, checks the clock and takes a step forwards, away from the cell so the man can’t reach him again.
    Thank the gods his shift was almost over.
    A click of the lock and a turn of the knob brings him back to reality. He doesn’t even take the time to speak to or even really look at the substitute before he storms out of the room.

    Grian is guarding two super villains' cells and one seems to be interested in him.

    He turned the corner and nearly walked right into someone.
    The man stopped short too — blonde, wearing a sharp black suit, the kind that screamed “money” but was scuffed at the edges like it had been through a scuffle. A bandana obscured part of his face, but Scott caught the sharpness of his grin immediately.
    “Well now,” the stranger said, tilting his head, “aren’t you a sight for sore eyes.”

    The only thing that puts his mind to rest is the knowledge that it’s ultimately fine to say absolutely nothing. It’s so expected that it’d probably be worse if he did say anything. It’s always been like this- for whatever reason, be it habit, fear, or lack of need- they don’t talk.

I plan to keep this series in chronological order, so I'll put all the pieces where they'd fall along the timeline, which may sometimes not line up with the publishing date. The exception to this is 'Pretty Boy' which, IF someone does want to read the whole series in order, I'd want them to have read that one first and then all the rest, so 'Pretty Boy' will always be the first fic in the line-up, but after that you could read chronologically or just bounce around as you please! I've written all of these to mostly stand-alone, so you shouldn't be too terribly confused no matter where you decide to start up!
